Panthers ride Lozicki's two goals to the GLCHL Semifinals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Davenport, the two seed in the GLCHL Playoffs, sent Western Michigan packing in a close game during the Quarterfinals. The Panthers won 3-2 against the Stallions and advanced to the Semifinals of the GLCHL Playoffs. Mike Lozicki, who has only played six games with the Panthers this season, netted two goals including the game-winning goal in the second period. Davenport is a perfect 3-0 against Western Michigan this year and outscored them 14-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Within three minutes into the game Davenport scored two goals. Luke Formica netted the first goal 67 seconds into the game, assisted by Joey Ogden and Luke Cowan. Lozicki decided to get in on the scoring early as well with a goal 2:41 into the game. Both of the goals were with even strength. The Panthers upheld their lead for the remainder of the period.
-Western Michigan scored two unanswered goals in the second period to tie the game 2-2. The second Stallion goal was 9:01 into the period, Lozicki responded shortly after. He scored 14 seconds after the WMU goal to give DU a 3-2 lead, this would eventually be the game-winning goal. Alex Hulford and Devin Burchett assisted Lozicki on the play.
-Neither team scored during the remaining 30 minutes and Davenport skated off with a victory.
-Lozicki scored two goals in the game to lead DU.
-Assisted on both of Lozicki's goals is Hulford.
-Tanner Swift played the entire game in net and saved 20 of the 22 shots he faced.
 
UP NEXT
Davenport advanced to the Semifinals of the GLCHL Playoffs and face the University of Michigan-Dearborn Friday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. The game will take place at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
