WESTVILLE, Ind. – Davenport made their second trip to the Pride's Westville campus this season and go 2-1 combined on the trips. The Panthers earned their second straight GLIAC win in a pivotal part of conference play. With only five conference games remaining in the regular season Davenport is tied for ninth place with Northwood University and one game behind Grand Valley State/Saginaw Valley State who are tied for seventh place. Davenport swept the Pride on the season, with an average margin of victory of 28 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers found themselves down against the Pride early in the game. Purdue Northwest led by six-points multiple times in the opening 10 minutes of play. Davenport chipped away and gained their first lead with 9:16 left in the first half after a three pointer by
Janeau Joubert. The Pride took momentum back later on in the half, building up another six-point lead with just over three minutes to play in the half. Davenport went into the half trailing by four points.
The defense for Davenport was impeccable in the second half. The Panthers allowed PNW to score only 20 points in the half and held them to 32.1% shooting from the field, 7.7% from beyond the arc and only one made free throw. Davenport gained the lead after consecutive buckets in the paint by
Orlando Little. The lead was built up to seven points following a three ball by
Robbie Bramhill, assisted by Little. Davenport continued to score on the offensive end of the ball and led by 12-points with 6:30 left in the game.
Delano Smith helped DU maintain the lead down the stretch, scoring seven points in the final five minutes of play.
Smith led DU in scoring with 18 points on 4/8 from the floor and 8/10 from the free throw line.
John McCloud chipped in 12 points and six rebounds, while Bramhill scored 11 points and also snagged six boards. The Panthers had six players hit three or more field goals on the night.
UP NEXT
Davenport will travel to rival Grand Valley State on Saturday for their next game. The contest will start at 8:00 p.m. in the GVSU Fieldhouse.
