LEBANON, Ill. – Davenport played their first GLIAC contest of the 2018 season and were met by the Bearcats of McKendree University. The Bearcats built a big lead early in the first period, taking an 8-1 lead after back to back goals by Hannah Sugarman. Davenport gave up 22 goals to McKendree and were only able to score back-to-back goals once in the game.

How It Happened
The Bearcats took an early lead in the first period and carried that momentum throughout the 30 minutes. Every time that Davenport scored a goal, McKendree had an answer, including a six-goal stretch in the first half of the period to give them an 8-1 lead. The Panthers came out of halftime and played with a rejuvenated energy, scoring three straight goals to cut the lead down to seven goals. McKendree halted the DU momentum with four goals of their own to bring the lead back to double digits. Davenport was only able to score two or more goals in a row once during the game, while McKendree accomplished this six different times.
