COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Panthers came into this game knowing the tall order that was ahead of them. Davenport took the ice against the number three team in the country and an opponent that they had not been able to figure out during the regular season. The final score does not properly depict how close the Panthers got to upsetting the Lions of Lindenwood University. Davenport came within inches of being one goal behind during the third period.

3rd Period: DU-1| LU-1
Final: DU-2 | LU-5

HOW IT HAPPENED
-A three-minute portion of the first period put the Panthers in a two-goal hole. Lindenwood scored twice between the seventh and ninth minute of play, the second goal being on a power play. Davenport played the Lions evenly down the stretch of the period, matching them for shots on goal 2-2 during the last six minutes.
-Davenport found themselves down ever more during the second period, trailing by as much as four goals. The Lions again scored twice in a short period of time, they scored two goals in a matter of 3:05 in the middle of the period. Everett Thompson scored a much-needed goal in the 13th minute of the period. It was an even strength goal and brought the lead down to 4-1.
-The Panthers found life when Adam Goudelock knocked in a goal 6:59 into the final period, cutting the Lions lead down to 4-2. With 13 minutes to play the Panthers were officially back in the game and put their foot on the gas pedal. A pivotal moment in the game is when a Panther shot the puck, it slid past the opposing goal tender, and the puck literally sat on the goal line for a couple of seconds before it was smothered by the goalie for a face-off. The goal would have put DU down only one goal with plenty of time left. Shortly after the save, Lindenwood came down the ice and scored their fifth goal of the game to go up three goals. Davenport, down by three goals with just under five minutes to play in regulation, gave it their all to score a couple goals. The Lions defense stopped the Panthers attack and upheld their lead down the stretch.
-Both Goudelock and E. Thompson scored for DU.
-Chris Corgan, Brad Reitter, and Sherman Mowery all assisted on one goal.
-Tanner Swift played 32:24 with 10 saves and Jason Rhynold recorded 27:36 on the ice and had 13 saves.
