GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The countdown of the top 10 moments of the 2017-18 season stops at No. 2 with a pair of track and field performers who will be etched into the record books.
Emma Schafer and
Jordan Stanford each won an individual event at the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships. Schafer was the first-ever Panther to win an individual event as she won the heptathlon. It was also the first event of the championships hosted by Ashland University. Schafer scored 4,668 points over the seven events and set a school record in the process. Stanford had the top mark in the 400-meter hurdles. He ran 54.34 in the prelims and then clocked 52.93 seconds in the finals. The mark of 52.93 seconds earned Stanford first place and a school record. He beat his own school record by .71 seconds (53.64).
