HOW IT HAPPENED
Grand Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 14 minutes of play, then Davenport put on the locks defensively for the remainder of the game. The ball was on the Panthers defensive half for the majority of the opening 45 minutes. Davenport was unable to record a shot during the half.

The Panthers stuck to their offensive scheme and had a great opportunity to score just under four minutes into the second half. Cassandra Bosworth sent a long ball to Alayna Hilgendorf who ran down the ball, she took a couple dribbles and shot a ball low and hard towards the keeper. The Lakers keeper ran out towards the edge of the box and was able to stop the shot with her legs and smother the ball. Davenport continued to bring the pressure on the offensive end, with Hilgendorf recording two more shots just wide of the net. The final scoring opportunity came from Roheema Bennett when she shot from the top of the box and it was saved by Jessica Radice. The defense for Davenport held their own in the second half, holding the Lakers powerful offense to zero goals.
