GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team was defeated 82-53 on Saturday (Jan. 26) against No. 15 Grand Valley State in GLIAC action. The Panthers led for just 39 seconds of the contest and could not find any offensive rhythm after shooting 54.5 percent in the first quarter. DU shot 30 percent in the second quarter and scored nine points as they trailed 38-21 at halftime.
Grand Valley State jumped ahead 62-32 after three quarters and led by as many as 47 points with 3:59 left in the fourth quarter. The Lakers did damage from behind the arc going 11-of-27 (40.7 percent). Davenport on the flip side did not make a three-pointer until 3:41 left in the game by
Kenzie Wilkinson. DU went 3-for-15Â behind the arc for the game.
Freshman
Toni Grace led the Panthers with a career-high 20 points. She now has 12 games of double-digit points this season. Grace went 8-for-16 from the floor and also had four rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes.
Amanda Merz added nine points, three rebounds and three assists.
Jenna Falkenberg added nine points and three boards in 29 minutes. Jenn DeBoer led GVSU with 23 points and also had a team-high eight assists and four rebounds.
