CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Panthers and Rangers competed in extremely windy weather, playing 110 total minutes and finishing tied 0-0. The wind played a major factor in the game, if you were going against the wind it was tough to pass the ball in the air. Davenport had plenty of scoring opportunities, just couldn't hammer one home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The final score was 0-0 at the end of the game, but Davenport created more scoring opportunities than the Rangers did. However, the first half was dominated by Parkside. The defense for Parkside held Davenport to no shots on goal in the half, while Parkside recorded three. One could argue that the wind played a major factor in Davenport not getting a shot on goal in the first half.
The wind was behind the Panthers back in the second half and the team took advantage. Davenport recorded three shots on goal in the half, one from
Imanie Richards and two by
Holly Bertke. Since the game was scoreless after 90 minutes of play, overtime periods ensued. In the first over time period, Davenport remained with the wind at their back. The key scoring opportunity in the period came off a corner kick by
Ashlyn Skidmore. Skidmore sent the ball towards the back post among a pack of players, the ball bounced around and
Katherine Steiner got a clean look at the net. Izzy Guyer came up with the save for Parkside and another overtime period was needed. The second overtime period had fans on the edge of their seat and standing up to cheer. With less than three minutes to go in the period,
Madeleine Zayan found herself in a perfect scoring position. She received a ball from
Roheema Bennett and sent it towards the net. Unfortunately, Guyer was there again for the save. Davenport had one last chance in the final couple seconds of play. Zayan took a corner kick with 10 seconds to play and the ball bounced around in the box, Bennett got a foot on it but didn't get a clean look. The clock hit zero before Davenport could possess the ball again.
