DETROIT - The Davenport University women's swimming & diving team traveled east on Friday to compete in its first meet since the season-opening win at Hillsdale back on Oct. 5. The Panthers dropped the head-to-head with the host, Wayne State, 137-100, but picked up a victory over Tiffin, 197-24.
The Davenport women took home first place in four of the meet's 13 events including the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, and 400 freestyle relay. Those first-place finishers included
Emma Wallis for the 1000 free (10:37.50) and 500 free (5:13.62),
Victoria Postmus for the 200 breast (2:29.76), and the team of Wallis,
Riley Faulkner,
Megan Fraula, and
Jenna Schrotenboer for the 400 free relay (3:42.62).
The Panthers swept the top three places in the 200 breast as
Allison Steffin and
Kamilla Linn followed up Postmus with times of 2:39.46 and 2:44.32, respectively. Davenport also placed first and second in the 400 free relay as the Panthers' other team consisted of
Mackenzie Knowlton,
Kaylee VanDeusen,
Dominyka Rapsyte, and
Sara Mumby (3:49.61).
Those two events were among the 10 in which Davenport placed second and or third.
Next up, the Panthers will host Findlay, Hope College and Kalamazoo on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 1-2 at the Kentwood Aquatic Center.
