UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Looking for its fourth-straight win and eighth in the last nine matches, Davenport was up two sets to none at Saginaw Valley State. However, the Cardinals turned the tide after that and handed the Panthers a devastating five-set loss inside Hamilton Gymnasium.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Saginaw scored five of the opening set's first six points before Davenport answered with an 8-2 run to go up by two, 9-7.
- After that, the closest the Cardinals could get was one on four different occasions, but the visitors advantage grew to seven three times.
- In the second set, the home team's only lead came at 2-1 and the Panthers led it by as many as eight at five different spots.
- The home team hit .326 and .433 in the first and second set, respectively, but was below .300 in the following three.
- Opposite that, Saginaw's offense produced at a sub-.200 clip in the first two sets before marks of at least .333 in the next three.
- Friday's effort marked Davenport's first in which it hit at least .260, but lost the match (7-1).
- Four different Panthers notched at least 10 kills including
Hayley Kreiger (17),
Megan Herr (16),
Riley Groves (13), and
Kendra DeJonge (12).
- Kreiger also hit .412 to go with 15 digs (second career double-double), six blocks and two service aces.
- Also on offense, DeJonge sent home two aces and
Sami White racked up 57 assists, a new career high for the redshirt senior.
- Defensively,
Nina Rudnitsky (18) and White (14) also found the double-digit dig column like Kreiger.
NEXT UP
Davenport will be at Lake Superior State on Saturday with first serve set for 2 p.m. from Sault Ste. Marie. The Lakers, 8-13, 2-8 GLIAC, were beaten in straight sets by Grand Valley State on Friday.
