ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Davenport University men's basketball team caught No. 6 Lincoln Memorial at the wrong time on Saturday afternoon at the Small College Basketball National Hall of Fame Classic. The red-hot shooting Railsplitters gave the Panthers their first loss of the young season, 98-48, behind a tournament record, 18 made three-pointers (18-for-27), and an overall shooting performance of 64 percent from the field (32-of-50).
Offensively for the Panthers,
Janeau Joubert and
Evan Hines (pictured) led the team in scoring with 10 points apiece while Hines tied the game high in rebounds with five. Joubert and
Jarrin Randall combined for half of the team's eight assists with two each. Nine different Panthers found the scoring column including the first-career time for true freshman,
Elijah Belle, who was joined by
Case Conley for a first collegiate appearance. Defensively,
Alonzo Chatman secured two steals and
Robbie Bramhill notched the squad's lone block.
Next up, Davenport will be in Phoenix to face Division I Grand Canyon on Tuesday night with the tip set for 7 p.m. mountain time and 9 p.m. eastern. The Panthers will then open their home slate on Friday, Nov. 8 against Rockhurst as part of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover. That start time inside the Student Center will be 3 p.m.
