GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport played their fourth consecutive home game and earned their fourth straight victory. The Panthers hosted non-conference foe Olivet College and defeated the Comets by a score of 89-46. The DU defense was fierce today, holding Olivet to 46 points. This was the second time this season that the Panthers held their opponent to under 50 points, both resulted in victories for DU.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got off to a shaky start, missing their opening eight shots from the field. Once Davenport saw their first shot go in the Comets were in big trouble.
Elise Scaggs scored the opening points for DU on a layup 2:21 into the contest. Davenport quickly built an 18-4 lead in the first quarter, getting buckets from
Scout Nelson,
Madison Jones,
Toni Grace,
Courtney McInerney and Scaggs. Jones scored seven of the Panthers last nine points in the quarter and Davenport led 22-10.
Davenport blew the game open with a 10-0 run to start the second quarter. The run gave DU a 31-10 lead and was capped off by a pair of layups by
Kenzie Wilkinson. Olivet went a small run and cut the lead down to 12 points, but Davenport ended the half scoring seven unanswered to lead by 18 at the break.
In the third quarter, the Panthers outscored the Comets 25-9 and grew their lead to 34 points. The Panther bench got a good amount of playing time in the fourth quarter, as every active player scored in the game for Davenport. Freshman
Amiyah VanderGeld scored 14 points off the bench for DU off seven shots, a new career high for her. Jones scored 20 or more points for the fourth time this season and is averaging 18 points per contest.
