ALLENDALE, Mich. – Davenport competed in Grand Valley State's Big Meet on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers broke three program records over the two meets and eight top-10 finishes.
Chieme Udaku set a new school record in the triple jump,
Thomas VanSlembrouck set the school record in the 3,000 meter run, and
Alexandra Eby set a new record in the pole vault!
Friday's Meet
- Emma Schafer finished seventh in the high jump, clearing the 1.54 meter height.
- Eby cleared 3.57 meters in the pole vault, taking 13th place and setting a new school record in the process. Betsy Lovett previously held the record at 3.56 meters.
Saturday's Meet
Men
- In the 60 meter dash Brett Schenck recorded the fastest time for Davenport. He finished in 7.15 seconds during the preliminaries.
- Colin Grady took seventh place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.49 seconds.
- In the 400 meter dash Justin Fleser clocked a time of 53.12 seconds.
- Zach Diamond finished the 800 meter run in 1:58.85, taking 38th place.
- In the mile run Shem Haas finished in 4:29.89, taking 33rd place.
- VanSlembrouck ran the 3,000 meter race in 8:39.16. He took 18th place and set a new program record in the process. VanSlembrouck held the previous record of 8:41.73.
- Craig Hoskins competed in the 60 meter hurdles and recorded a time of 8.95 seconds in the preliminaries.
- The squad of Justin Fleser, Matthew Field, Noah French, and Hoskins completed the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:26.87. The four took fourth place in the event.
- In the long jump Grady recorded a mark of 6.72 meters on his fifth jump, good enough for third place.
- William Jones IV threw 13.66 meters in the shot put, placing 19th.
- In the weight throw Brandon MacGregor tossed 16.62 meters, finishing in seventh place.
Women
- Udaku placed 12th in the 60 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.95 seconds.
- In the 200 meter dash finals Aleah Mixon finished in 26.21 seconds and took 30th, while Jakara Edwards-House finished in 26.52 seconds and took 41st place.
- DU had 11 competitors in the 400 meter dash finals. Tiler Tyler topped the list with a time of 1:00.17, taking 24th place, and behind her was Paige Gould with a time of 1:00.90, taking 31st place.
- In the 800 meter race Kaitlyn Rademacher clocked a time of 2:26 .94, finishing 41st overall.
- Olivia Bordewyk took 23rd in the mile with her time of 5:17.28.
- Schafer and Eby had similar performances in the 60 meter hurdles. Schafer finished in 9.46 seconds and took 17th place, while Eby finished in 9.40 seconds and took 16th.
- The squad of Sarah Stapleton, Haley Nelson, Joelle Humpula, and Kennedy Miedema competed in the 4 x 400 meter relay and took 12th place with a time of 4:13.84.
- In the pole vault Myah Kelly cleared 3.42 meters, taking 10th place in the event.
- Kelsey Graham finished 12th in the long jump with a mark of 5.25 meters.
- Udaku continues her dominance in the triple jump. She recorded a mark of 11.57 meters, giving her third place at the meet and a new school record. Her previous record was 11.55 meters.
- Jenna Schumaker had a great showing in the weight throw. She tossed 16.56 meters on her third attempt, giving her fourth place.
