HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – After numerous schedule changes, the Panthers finalized their day two schedule to take on the University of Illinois-Springfield and Truman State University. The Prairie Stars got the best of the Panthers in the first game of the day. Springfield scored 15 runs on Davenport, with nine of those runs coming in the fourth inning. In game two Davenport made some adjustments and gave up only three runs to Truman State. However, the Panthers only combated with one run of their own and fell to Truman State 3-1.

The Panthers got down early and never fully recovered. Springfield scored three runs in the second and third to take a 6-0 lead. In the fourth the Prairie Stars scored nine innings in the fourth and Davenport had a tall task in the top of the fifth. The Panthers needed to score 15 runs to extend the game to the bottom of the fifth. Davenport scored three runs in the pressure situation, but couldn't get the 15. Pauley knocked in the first run, she singled to center field, scoring Koza. Later in the inning Cura nailed a single that scored both Pauley and Jewell. The game ended with a double play by Springfield.

Davenport got a better start in game two compared to game one. The Panthers scored the first run of the game to take an early lead. In the bottom of the first Flores blasted a double to left field, scoring Urban from second. Miller threw four straight scoreless innings to open the game. In the top of the fifth the Bulldogs earned their first run of the game off a single to center field, tying the game 1-1. Truman State scored another run in the sixth and seventh to take a 3-1 lead heading into the final three outs of the game. Davenport needed a pair of runs to tie the game, but a couple strikeouts and a pop up ended the game.

The Panthers will regroup and get some practices in before their next contest. Davenport will head down to Clermont, Florida for the NTC Spring Games next weekend.
