GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers stayed local this weekend as they went to Aquinas College to compete in the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic. Davenport went up against local teams Aquinas, Calvin, and Cornerstone at the meet. The Panthers walked away with five first-place finishes, three on the women's side and two from the men's. In addition, Davenport finished in the top three of 11 other events. Sophomore
Chieme Udaku continues her stellar season as she topped the DU record in the triple jump for the third time this season. Udaku recorded a mark of 11.55 meters to break her previous record of 11.35 meters.
Women
- Jakara Edwards-House took second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.
- In the 400 meter dash Aniya Lowery finished in 1:01.61, taking fourth place.
- Davenport took third, fourth, and fifth in the 600 meter run. Tiler Tyler finished third with a time of 1:44.31, Kaitlyn Rademacher took fourth with a time of 1:47.43, and Joelle Humpula finished fifth with a time of 1:47.92.
- Olivia Bordewyk finished second in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:05.61 and Kelli Weighmink took fourth, finishing in 3:12.99.
- In the 60 meter hurdles Olivia Sandborn finished in 9.73 seconds to take fourth place.
- DU had two teams finish in the top five of the 4 x 400 relay. Sarah Stapleton, Aleah Mixon, Grace Bundschuh, and Edwards-House finished in 4:23.03 and took third. The team of Lynden Hamstra, Bordewyk, Weighmink, and Rademacher took fifth place with a time of 4:31.51.
- In the high jump, Emma Schafer took home first place, clearing the height of 1.57 meters.
- Alexandra Eby finished third in the pole vault, clearing 3.42 meters, while Myah Kelly took fourth, clearing 3.27 meters.
- In the long jump Kelsey Graham jumped 5.21 meters and finished in third, while Schafer jumped 5.07 meters and finished fifth.
- Udaku took second place with her recording breaking mark of 11.55 meters in the triple jump.
- Davenport took home first in the shot put and weight throw. Lisa Wangler threw 12.46 meters to take first in the shot put and Jenna Schumaker threw 15.99 meters in the weight throw to finish first.
Men
- Brett Schenck and Joe Grundstrom took third and fourth respectively in the 60 meter dash. Schenck recorded a time of 7.22 seconds and Grudstrom finished in 7.25 seconds.
- Davenport went one two in the 600 meter dash. Zach Diamond finished first with a time of 1:25.61 and Matthew Field took home second with his time of 1:25.95.
- In the 800 meter run Shem Haas finished fourth with a time of 2:02.37 and Noah French took fifth, finishing in 2:03.64.
- Thomas VanSlembrouck took third place with a time of 4:30.93 in the mile.
- In the 60 meter hurdles Craig Hoskins finished second, recording a time of 8.79 seconds.
- Davenport took first, second, and third in the long jump. Romario Salmon walked away with the top mark and first place when he jumped 7.13 meters. Obi Iwuagwu jumped 6.88 meters, taking second, while Colin Grady finished third with a mark of 6.59 meters.
- Isaiah Schafer and William Jones IV each tossed 14.50 meters in the shot put, taking home fourth and fifth place.
- In the weight throw Brandon MacGregor snagged second place with a mark of 17.41 meters and Eric Toledo took third with his toss of 16.72 meters.
