GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's basketball team welcomed Parkside for the first time on Thursday and the Rangers came away with an 86-56 win at the DU Student Center. Parkside scored the second highest point total against the Panthers this season and did so behind the arc. The Rangers entered the game shooting 28.4 percent from deep on the season, but made 12-of-27 in this one (44.4 percent). Parkside shot 9-of-14 from the arc in the first half to build a big lead of 44-18 at halftime.
Davenport had a cold night from the floor shooting 27.9 percent for the game and went 7-of-31 in the first half. 13 different players filled in scoring column for Parkside led by Carolina Rahkonen with 15 points. Rahkonen made all three of her triples and was 6-of-7 from the floor overall. Both teams had a good night at the charity stripe. The Rangers were 14-of-17 while the Panthers went 20-of-24. The 20 made free throws tied the second-most this season. DU entered the game shooting 71.3 percent at the line this season.
Jenna Falkenberg recorded 12 points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes.
Toni Grace scored 20 points marking three times in the last four games to score exactly 20 points. Grace went 10-of-11 at the free throw line in 31 minutes.
Taylor Opolka added nine points and five rebounds in 12 minutes of action.Â
