CALEDONIA, Mich. – Davenport played this doubleheader on familiar territory, but were still deemed the away team. In the first game of the doubleheader, the Panthers made a great comeback. Heading into the top of the seventh inning Davenport trailed by a score of 5-1. The rally caps were on and DU scored five runs in the top of the seventh to force the bottom half of the inning. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs had some magic of their own. Ferris State hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the seventh to take game one. Davenport left no doubt in game two, as they dominated from start to finish. The Panthers scored 17 runs in only five innings of play, earning a 17-0 win in five innings. The split of the doubleheader leaves Davenport with a 2-2 conference record at the moment.

The second game was a completely different story than in game one. The Panthers were in sync in all aspects of the games, from the offense, to the defense, to the coaching. Davenport went off for 17 runs en route to a blowout victory in only five innings. In the first inning, Griffin kicked things off with a homer to left center, scoring three runs. The home train was just getting started, it made a stop to let French blast a home run to right center, her second of the day, scoring two runs. In the third inning, the Panthers scored three runs. Two of them came off a double by Merice that scored Griffin and Flores, while Crawford drove in Merice with a single up the middle shortly after. The fourth inning rained runs. Merice opened the scoring with a single that scored Flores. Later on, Koza reached on a fielder's choice and Griffin scored. French earned an RBI as she was walked with the bases loaded. The scoring wasn't done yet, as Allen singled to right center and drove in two runs. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded again, Miller stepped up to her plate for her first-ever plate appearance at the college level. Miller swung with confidence on the very first pitch and will have a story to tell her friends and family for years to come. She blistered a homer to left center, clearing the bases with a rare grand slam, on her very first collegiate at bat. Muilenburg held her own on the mound, only allowing four hits over the five innings and striking out seven batters.
