Eric Harris breaks school record in pole vault during Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Panthers competed in their first meet of the outdoor season and did so against some high level competition. Davenport participated in the 2019 Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University. Eric Harris owned the best performance for DU; he broke the school record in the pole vault. Clearing 4.72m on his third and final attempt.

Women

Lexie Mayer had the quickest time in the 100 meter dash for DU. She ran the event in 13.65 seconds.
In the 200 meter dash, Aleah Mixon finished in 26.28 seconds.
Sarah Stapleton ran the 400 meter dash in 1:02.17.
In the 800 meter run Taryn Hubaker finished in 2:32.61. She also ran the 1,500 meter race in 5:19.36.
Morgan Posthuma ran the 5,000 meter run in 19:08.54.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Alexandra Eby took eighth place with a time of 15.23 seconds.
Kennedy Miedema and Joelle Humpula took fifth and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles. Kennedy bested Humpula by .01 seconds, finishing in 1:08.26 and 1:08.27.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Olivia Bordewyk clocked a time of 12:07.02.
The squad of Paige Gould, Aniya Lowery, Tiler Tyler, and Humpulla ran the 4x400 meter relay in 4:07.95.
Nadia Bouwhuis cleared 1.54 meters in the high jump.
In the pole vault, Eby cleared 3.42 meters.
Samantha Morrison recorded a mark of 4.46 meters in the long jump.
In the shot put, Lisa Wangler tossed 11.56 meters on her final throw. She also threw discus and threw 29.42 meters.
Kaylyn Perry had a solid showing in the hammer throw. Perry threw 48.52 meters on her final attempt, taking fifth place at the meet.
In the javelin throw, McKayla Nadolney recorded a mark of 26.12 meters.

Men

In the 100 meter dash, Brett Schenck clocked a time of 11.40 seconds. Which was the fifth fastest at the meet.
Adrian Bonilla, Zack Kuran, Justin Fleser, and Thomas Herring all finished within .22 seconds of each other in the 200 meter dash. Bonilla finished in 23.57 seconds, Kuran in 23.58 seconds, Fleser in 23.71 seconds, and Herring in 23.79 seconds.
In the 400 meter dash, Noah French finished in 51.75 seconds.
Zach Diamond ran the 800 meter run in 2:02.91.
In the 1,500 meter run, Joey Fox finished in 4:20.23.
Thomas VanSlembrouck kicked off his outdoor season on a good note, running the 5,000 meter race in 15:19.00 and taking sixth place.
In the 400 meter hurdles, Corbin DeJonge finished in 55.53 seconds.
Adam Maxwell ran the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:00.06.
The relay team of Joe Grundstrom, Colin Grady, Schenck, and Bonilla finished the 4x100 meter relay in 42.92 seconds.
In the pole vault, Harris took third place in the meet by clearing 4.72 meters. In addition, Harris set the school record in the process. The old record belonged to Dan Boivin at 4.60 meters.
Romario Salmon had the best individual finish for Davenport. Salmon recorded a leap of 7.04 meters in the long jump, taking second place. Grady also competed and took fourth with a mark of 6.77 meters.
Grady also competed in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.61 meters.
In the hammer throw, Brandon MacGregor and Claude Ockert had solid performances. MacGregor tied Salmon for the best individual finish, taking second place in the event with a mark of 54.98 meters. Ockert had a toss of 52.60 meters for fourth place in the hammer throw.
Drake Boomer and Harris finished 14^th and 15^th in the javelin. Boomer's best mark was 36.75 meters and Harris had a mark of 36.63 meters.
