Davenport sent seven of their student-athletes to three different meets this week.
Kaylyn Perry,
Zach Hammel-Brown,
Brandon MacGregor,
Claude Ockert,
Andrea Messing,
Shelbi Dyke, and
Eric Harris all competed in their strongest sports one last time this season. For Messing, Dyke, Perry, and MacGregor, this was their last time ever competing at for Davenport Track and Field!

For the women, Perry competed in the hammer throw, while Messing and Dyke competed in the 5,000 meter run.

Perry took part in the hammer throw at the Grand Valley State Last Chance meet on Tuesday (May 7). She recorded throws of 49.75 meters, 50.03 meters, and a 51.77 meters. She took fifth place at the meet with her best mark of 51.77 meters, which was also her top mark during the 2019 outdoor season.

Messing and Dyke ran the 5,000 meter race at the North Central College Dr. Keeler Meet on Thursday (May 9). Messing finished with a time of 19:24.01 and Dyke in a tie of 19:49.12, both of which are personal records!

For the men, Hammel-Brown, MacGregor, and Ockert competed at the GVSU Last Chance Meet (Tuesday, May 7), while Harris was at the Hillsdale Last-Chance Meet on Thursday (May 9).

In the 400 meter hurdles, Hammel-Brown clocked a time of 55.04 seconds. He finished second in the meet.

Ockert finished the hammer throw with no mark. MacGregor ended his career on a great note. He recorded a mark of 55.97 meters on the final throw of his career. The 55.97 meters is a season best and a personal record!

Harris competed in the pole vault and cleared 4.71 meters on his first attempt. This was his second highest height cleared this season, he cleared 4.72 meters at the Spartan Invitational at the beginning of the outdoor season.
