Davenport breaks three program records during the GLIAC Outdoor Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Panthers are no longer newcomers in the GLIAC and continue to improve every season. Davenport took sixth place on the men's side with 35.5 points and seventh on the women's with 31 points. During the meet, Davenport broke three school records. Alexandra Eby and Olivia Bordewyk set records for the women and Isaiah Schafer for the men.
 
Women
  • In the 100 meter dash Aleah Mixon and Jakara Edwards-House narrowly missed the finals. Mixon ran 12.70 seconds in the prelims and Edwards-House ran 12.74. Grace Bundschuh ran 12.84 seconds in the prelims as well.
  • Haley Nelson and Mixon ran the 200 meter dash. Nelson ran the event in 26.60 seconds and Mixon 27.50 seconds, both in the prelims.
  • In the 400 meter dash Tiler Tyler advanced to the finals, where she placed fourth with a time of 57.54 seconds. Paige Goule also ran the event, finishing with a time of 1:00.94 in the prelims.
  • Sarah Stapleton, Kaitlyn Rademacher, and Lynden Hamstra all ran the 800 meter run. Stapleton finished in 2:27.61, Rademacher in 2:33.89, and Hamstra in 2:42.05.
  • In the 1,500 meter run Taryn Hubaker recorded a time of 5:10.05 in the prelims.
  • Morgan Posthuma ran the 5,000 meter run in 18:39.98 and took 14th.
  • Eby made some noise in the 100 meter hurdles. She finished in 15.06 in the finals, taking seventh place. However, she ran 14.96 in the prelims, which broke the previous school record of 15 seconds flat. Olivia Sandborn and Sammy Miedema also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, they finished in 17.46 seconds and 17.78 seconds.
  • In the 400 meter hurdles, Joelle Humpula took fifth place with her time of 1:05.18. Kennedy Miedema also competed in the event, she ran 1:08.66 in the prelims.
  • Bordweyk narrowly edged out her own school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She ran the event this year in 11:42.90, beating the previous record by .27 seconds. Andrea Messing ran the event in 12:25.07, taking 14th place.
  • The relay squad of Edwards-House, Bundschuh, Mixon, and Humpula ran the 4x100 meter relay in 49.21 seconds. The four took fifth place at the meet.
  • In the 4x400 meter relay the squad of McKayla Nadolney, Gould, Tyler, and Humpula ran the event in 4:02.96, taking seventh place.
  • Eby finished seventh in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters on her final attempt.
  • In the shot put, Lisa Wangler recorded a toss of 12.35 meters on her second attempt, finishing ninth. Wangler also competed in the discus, throwing 30.90 meters.
  • In the hammer throw, Jenna Schumaker, Kaylyn Perry, and Wangler all finished in the top 10. Schumaker recorded the best mark, throwing 51.47 meters and taking seventh. Perry recorded a mark of 50.46 meters, taking ninth, and Wangler threw 48.09 meters, finishing 10th.
  • Nadolney took fourth place in the javelin throw. She recorded a mark of 34.21 meters on her final attempt.
  • In the heptathlon, Samantha Morrison finished fourth with a point total of 4,140 points.
 
Men
  • In the 100 meter dash, Colin Grady, Brett Schenck, and Thomas Herring all finished in the top 20. Grady just missed qualifying for the final heat, finishing in 10.92 seconds and taking 10th place. Schenck ran the event in 11.03 seconds and Herring finished in 11.56 seconds.
  • Grady made it to the final in the 200 meter dash, where he took eighth with a time of 22.07 seconds. Schenck and Zack Kuran also competed, Schenck finished in 22.64 seconds and Kuran in 23.15 seconds.
  • In the 400 meter dash, Matthew Field ran the single lap in 51.72 seconds.
  • Noah French and Brad Hotovy finished 16th and 17th in the 800 meter run. French finished in 2:02.84 and Hotovy in 2:03.14.
  • In the 1,500 meter prelims, Hunter Nelson and Zach Diamond finished within one second of each other. Nelson ran the event in 4:09.26 and Diamond in 4:09.52. Joey Fox also competed and finished with a time of 4:15.70.
  • Thomas VanSlembrouck ran the 5,000 meter run in 15:16.34, finishing in 11th place.
  • In the 110 meter hurdles, Corbin DeJonge finished fifth. DeJonge ran the event in 15.29 seconds during the final heat.
  • Craig Hoskins and Dejonge both competed in the 400 meter hurdles. DeJonge finished seventh with a time of 55.75 seconds and Hoskins in ninth with a time of 58.94 seconds.
  • In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Adam Maxwell and Les Miner finished seventh and eighth. Maxwell clocked a time of 9:45.03 and Miner a time of 9:48.15.
  • The relay squad of Justin Fleser, Zach Hammel-Brown, Field and Hoskins ran the 4x400 meter relay in 325.26 and took sixth place.
  • In the pole vault, DU had two athletes place in the top six. Eric Harris took fourth by clearing 4.57 meters and Dan Boivin took sixth after clearing 4.12 meters.
  • Davenport got similar results in the long jump, with Grady taking fourth and Romario Salmon taking sixth. Grady jumped 6.92 meters and Salmon 6.84 meters.
  • Grady also competed in the triple jump, taking eighth place with a leap of 12.42 meters.
  • In the shot put, Schafer broke the school record for the second straight week. Schafer set a new record with a toss of 15.32 meters last week at the Davenport Tune Up and broke that by tossing 15.97 meters at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships. Schafer finished in seventh place at the meet. William Jones IV also competed, recording a mark of 14.02 meters.
  • Schafer also competed in the discus throw, recording a mark of 38.38 meters.
  • In the hammer throw, Brandon MacGregor and Claude Ockert both finished in the top eight. MacGregor tossed 55.62 meters, finishing sixth, and Ockert tossed 55.36 meters to take eighth place. Eric Toledo also competed in the event, record a toss of 48.46 meters.
  • Harris competed in the javelin and threw 39.90 meters, finishing 11th in the meet.
