KENOSHA, Wis. - The Davenport baseball team extended their win streak to six games and moved into fourth place in the GLIAC standings with a pair of wins at Parkside on Saturday. The Panthers have earned a spot in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament and will find out their opponent and time after Sunday's game. DU won 3-1 in game one and 13-3 in game two.
GAME 1
The low-scoring affair went to the Panthers in game two of the series. The Panthers scored all three of their runs in the first inning and then their pitching held it up.
Nolan Bryant singled with one out to start the rally and
Noah Marcoux drew a walk.
Travis Harvey fell behind 0-2 in the count and worked a walk himself to load the bases.
Kamrin Markwardt delivered a RBI single to start the scoring.
Dylan Watson followed with a two-RBI single to right center for the 3-0 lead.
Parkside scored their lone run in the second inning off
Evan Marquardt. Hunter Weddel struck out but reached on a wild pitch. He stole second with one out and then third with two outs. Niko Diaz walked and an error at short allowed the run to score.
Davenport had eight hits in the game and left eight on base. Markwardt went 2-for-4 and
Gaetano Vallone went 2-for-3. Marquardt improved to 8-1 going four innings and allowing two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. His eight wins ties for fourth in a season at Davenport.
Cal Djuraskovic pitched two innings and allowed no hits with four strikeouts.
Pete Zeimis got his sixth save of the season retiring the Rangers in order in the seventh. He is now tied for fifth in a season at DU.
GAME 2
James Rogers took the ball in the nightcap and picked up the win improving to 7-2. He tossed 4.2 innings and allowed five hits and three runs. He walked three and struck out a season-high eight Rangers.
Michael Lincoln finished up the final 2.1 innings and allowed three hits with three strikeouts.
The Panthers scored twice in the first and then increased their lead to 5-0 in the third.
Nolan Bryant hit his eighth home run of the season in the first, a two-run shot to right.
Travis Harvey homered for a three-run blast in the third. It was his eighth of the season.
Parkside scored once in the third and twice more in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3. The Panthers responded with three runs in the sixth. Marcoux had a three-run homer which scored Bryant and Vallone for the 8-3 lead. The last five runs came in the seventh without the aid of a home run. Vallone had a RBI double which scored
Jimmy Filipski. Bryant had a RBI single up the middle which scored
Hunter Ruhstorfer. Harvey had a sacrifice fly to score
Alex Huard. Marcoux also drew a bases loaded walk in a seven-pitch at-bat.
Nicholas Rana gave up six runs in five innings for the Rangers to take the loss (3-6). Bryant went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Marcoux drove in four and walked twice. Harvey also had four RBI going 2-for-4 at the plate.Â

The Panthers (29-16, 15-11) will look for win number 30 on Sunday as they conclude the regular season against Parkside at 1 p.m. central time at Simmons Field.
