Davenport stumbles on the road against nationally ranked Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers, after having over a week off from playing games, took to the field against GLIAC opponent Ferris State in a non-conference tilt. The Bulldogs controlled the pace of the game from the opening whistle and walked off the field with a 6-0 victory. The loss puts Davenport at 2-3 so far this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half leaned the Bulldogs way from the get go. Ferris State scored three goals within the opening 20 minutes of play, keeping freshman keeper Samantha Beckles busy in the goal. Davenport had a pair of scoring opportunities in the first half, one from Alexa Dekam and Allison Luurtsema. Unfortunately, the Ferris State keeper stopped both.

Davenport looked to shift the momentum of the game in the second half, but a Bulldog goal just under 10 minutes into the half made it difficult. The Panthers had back-to-back shots in the 70th minute of play, but against the FSU keeper saved both. Following the shots, the Bulldogs scored two more goals, putting the game far out of reach for DU.
