ALLENDALE, Mich. – Davenport competed at Grand Valley's Meet for the second straight week. The Panthers had their fourth athlete hit a NCAA Division II provisional mark, this time it was
Malcolm Caldwell in the 60 meter hurdles. In addition,
Isaiah Schafer broke the school record in the shot put, breaking his own record he set last week.
Men
- In the 60 meter dash, Juan Vazquez placed 14th in the preliminaries with a time of 7.35 seconds.
- Colin Grady brought the heat in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 22.49 seconds and taking third.
- In the 400 meter dash, Collin Graham placed 26th with a time of 52.14 seconds.
- Jacob Butts was the lone Panther competing in the 600 meter run, he finished in a time of 1:34.43 and took 38th place.
- In the 800 meter run, Noah Dooley ran the event in 2:09.86 and took 58th place.
- Four Panthers competed in the mile, Hunter Nelson, TJ Moore, Joey Fox, and Brad Hotovy. Nelson came away with the fastest time of 4:35.98, finishing 49th.
- In the 3,000 meter run, Trevor Luznak placed 73rd with a time of 9:30.17.
- DU had great success in the 60 meter hurdles. Corbin DeJonge and Caldwell advanced to the finals. DeJonge finished seventh with a time of 8.65 seconds. Caldwell placed third with a time of 8.21 seconds. This was the second fastest time in program history and he hit the NCAA Division II Provisional qualifying mark in the event.
- In the 4x400 meter relay, the squad of Zach Hammel-Brown, Craig Hoskins, DeJonge, and Caldwell finished in 3:26.61, placing seventh.
- Romario Salmon took third in the high jump. Salmon cleared 1.95 meters on his first attempt.
- In the pole vault, Jacob Atlas and Noah Dooley each cleared 3.91 meters. Atlas placed 17th and Dooley finished 20th.
- Schafer continues to make noise in the shot put. Schafer threw 16.57 meters and placed fourth. The mark broke his own school record of 16.53 meters last meet.
- In the weight throw, Claude Ockert placed seventh with a toss of 15.95 meters.
Women
- Joelle Humpula recorded a time of 8.18 seconds in the 60 meter dash, placing 19th.
- In the 200 meter dash, Kyla Chappell and Mya Staczek finished a few spots from each other. Staczek clocked a time of 27.76 seconds, finishing 38th, and Chappell finished in 27.63 seconds, taking 35th place.
- Sarah Stapleton finished 35th in the 400 meter dash, running the event in 1:04.19.
- In the 600 meter run, Erin Dorn had a time of 1:44.16 and took 12th place.
- Morgan Posthuma ran the 3,000 meter run in 11:01.98, finishing in 47th place.
- In the 60 meter hurdles, Alexandra Eby just missed the final heat. She placed ninth with a time of 9.31 seconds.
- The team of Alison Toner, Stacia Rispress, Emma Schafer and Humpula took seventh place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:11.08.
- In the high jump, Schafer placed third. She cleared 1.60 meters on her second attempt.
- Madeline Elmquist placed 13th in the pole vault, she cleared 3.57 meters on her third and final attempt.
- In the long jump, Kelsey Graham took the top mark for DU. She leaped 5.17 meters on her final attempt, finishing in 17th place.
- Mackenzie Brigham and Samantha Morrison competed in the triple jump, finishing a few centimeters a part. Morrison jumped 9.77 meters and finished 16th, while Brigham jumped 9.80 meters and took 14th place.
- In the shot put, Rachel Morris finished eighth, throwing 11.28 meters on her second attempt.
- Jenna Schumaker finished fifth in the invite section of the weight throw. She threw 16.96 meters, only 11 centimeters from the NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying mark.
