KENTWOOD, Mich. - In its final home meet of the 2019-20 season, the Davenport University women's swimming and diving team swept the competition, 199-96 over Saginaw Valley State and 201-95 against Hope College. The Panthers won 10 of a possible 16 events and will finish up their regular season at No. 15 Grand Valley State in a week (diving only).
Among the many highlights on the day for Davenport was the production of freshman diver,
Lexis Mirandette. Lexis finished in a tie for first in the one-meter dive (272.95) and second in the three-meter dive (263), both marks of which are NCAA cuts.
Starting with the relays, Davenport won both the 200 free (
Anna Wooters,
Megan Fraula,
Riley Faulkner,
Jenna Schrotenboer) with a time of 1:39.80 and the 200 medley (
Lauren Bockheim,
Emma Wallis,
Victoria Postmus, and Schrotenboer) with a time of 1:50.06.
Individually, Wallis picked up three more wins as she touched the wall first in the 200 free (1:56.31), 500 free (5:20.31) and 400 IM (4:25.31). Placing first in a pair of events was Bockheim as she was atop the podium for both the 100 back (59.42) and 200 back (2:10.27).
The Panthers three other first-place finishes came in the 100 breast with Postmus (1:07.90), 100 free with Faulkner (54.63) and 200 breast with
Jesica Smit (2:28.88).
