HOW IT HAPPENED
Saginaw Valley State scored the opening points of the game from a free throw. Madison Jones responded a few possessions later with back to back jumpers, giving DU their only lead of the contest. The Cardinals strung together a few baskets and led by eight after a three by Mariah Cook. Courtney McInerney drilled a three of her own shortly after, bringing the lead down to double digits with 2:53 to play. Davenport would go scoreless the rest of the quarter and SVSU cashed in, going on 8-0 run. The Panthers trailed by 13 points going into the second quarter. Both teams struggled to score in the second, combining for 21 total points. The lead remained around 15-17 points for the Cardinals during the length of the quarter. A layup by Jenna Falkenberg with five seconds on the clock made the score 23-39 in favor of SVSU heading into half.

The lowest the deficit got in the second half was 13 points and was as large as 27 points late in the fourth quarter. Davenport scored 14 and 15 points in the third and fourth, but the main thing they needed to make a comeback was stops on the defensive side of the ball. The Cardinals scored 18 points in the third and fourth, leaving little room for Davenport to effectively make a comeback. The final horn eventually sounded and Davenport lost their 15th conference game of the season.
