ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Panthers competed in the two GVSU Big Meets this weekend, with the majority of the team competing in the Saturday meet.
Isaiah Schafer continues to impress, smashing the school record in the shot put yet again.
Malcolm Caldwell finished first in the 60 meter hurdles, the lone Panther to take first in an event. Davenport has one more meet remaining before the GLIAC Championships at the end of February!
Men
- On Friday, TJ Moore competed in the 5,000 meter run. He placed 26th with a time of 15:56.18.
- Schafer took third in the shot put, tossing a monster throw of 17.23 meters on his final attempt. The mark helps move him up the national standings and broke his own previous school record in the event.
- On Saturday, In the 60 meter dash, Noah Dooley placed 10th in heat seven of the preliminaries with a time of 7.09 seconds.
- Tommy Herring and Juan Vazquez competed in the 200 meter dash. Herring placed 45th with a time of 23.54 seconds and Vazquez finished 54th with a time of 23.89 seconds.
- In the 400 meter run, Jack Sandstedt clocked a time of 51.54 seconds, placing 40th. Colin Grady finished with a time of 51.75 seconds and Matthew Field in 51.76 seconds.
- Collin Graham placed 38th in the 800 meter run, finishing in 1:59.93.
- In the mile, Hunter Nelson placed 31st with a time of 4:33.69.
- Trevor Luznak was the lone Panther competing in the 3,000 meter run. He placed 66th with a time of 9:20.65.
- Caldwell finished first in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.20 seconds. Corbin DeJonge also made it to the final heat, finishing ninth with a time of 8.51 seconds.
- The two 4x400 meter relay squads finished 12th and 13th. The A squad of Sandtedt, DeJonge, Field, and Caldwell finished in 3:29.42, placing 12th.
- In the high jump, Ryan Olsen and Austin Berg both cleared 1.81 meters. Olsen placed 18th and Berg 19th.
- Dooley also competed in the pole vault, clearing 4.22 meters on his first attempt. He finished 11th in the event.
- In the long jump, Olsen jumped 6.23 meters on his final jump, taking 15th place.
- Berg also competed in the triple jump, he finished eighth with a mark of 12.32 meters.
- In the shot put, Noah Evers placed ninth with a toss of 14.50 meters.
- Claude Ockert placed second in the weight throw with a personal best of 17.89 meters. Schafer also competed, taking third with a mark of 17.17 meters.
Women
- On Friday, Morgan Posthuma competed in the 5,000 meters run. She finished 16th with a time of 18:38.46.
- On Saturday, Joelle Humpula finished 36th in the 60 meter dash, clocking a time of 8.17 seconds. Mya Staczek finished in 8.33 seconds and Betsy Lovett in 8.64 seconds.
- In the 200 meter dash, Staczek clocked a time of 27.64 seconds.
- Kyla Chappell ran the 400 meter run and finished with a time of 1:01.21.
- In the 800 meter run, Erin Dorn finished in 2:26.48 and placed 57th.
- Julianna Wilson ran the mile in 5:35.47, taking 55th place.
- In the 3,000 meter run, Avri Beach took 67th with a time of 11:21.74.
- In the 60 meter hurdles, Alison Toner finished in 8.96 seconds, Emma Schafer in nine seconds and Samantha Morrison in 10.05 seconds.
- The A squad of Stacia Rispress, Humpula, Chappell, and Schafer finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay. The four finished in 4:01.49.
- Rispress placed second in the high jump. She cleared 1.64 meters, a personal best, and attempted to break the school record at 1.69 meters.
- In the pole vault, Alexandra Eby and Madeline Elmquist both placed sixth by clearing 3.51 meters.
- Mackenzie Brigham finished 21st in the long jump with a mark of 5.14 meters.
- In the triple jump, Morrison placed 12th with a jump of 10.66 meters.
- Schafer also competed in the shot put, throwing 12.16 meters and placing 16th.
- In the weight throw, Jenna Schumaker threw 17.30 meters and took fifth place.
