GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It was a Super Bowl Sunday and the Davenport men's tennis team delivered a super performance with a 5-2 win over visiting Tiffin. The Panthers improved to 4-0 overall while the Dragons are now 0-2.
It was a clean sweep in doubles for the team in red and black. Juan Jose Contoleon and
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen teamed up for a 6-3 win at one doubles.
Remy Johansen and
Jonathan Bulmer won 6-2 at two doubles.
Daniil Khitrou and
Matt Leatherman finished it off for a team point with a 6-2 win at three doubles.
It was a battle at the top for the first four singles matches. They all went three sets with each team winning two matches. van Antwerpen at two singles got a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over Michael Gurtner. Bulmer playing three singles won 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 against Matthew Telford. Khitrou and Leatherman each won in straight sets.Â
