MARQUETTE, Mich. - In just its second overtime game of the season, the Davenport University men's basketball team was outscored, 12-6, in the extra period by Northern Michigan. The Panthers led by three, 74-71, with 2:29 remaining before the Wildcats ended the game on a 9-0 run en route to the final six-point defeat, 80-74.
Davenport has now dropped two games in a row to fall to 19-10 overall and 11-8 in GLIAC play. Northern Michigan swept the season series to improve to 12-15 on the season and 9-10 in league action. The Panthers will play their final game of the regular season on Thursday at Grand Valley State with the tip set for 8 p.m. The chance to host a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal matchup is still up for grabs.

Chris Rollins (21),
Tafari Beckford (18),
Evan Hines (15), and
Robbie Bramhill (11).
Chris Pearl (eight points, 10 rebounds) was two points shy of his fourth double-double of the season. As a team, Davenport mustered just five assists, a new season low, compared to 17 turnovers, which is tied for the fourth most this season.
Late in the second half, Davenport was ahead by eight, 65-57, with just over three minutes to play in regulation. Northern Michigan then answered with an 11-3 run to tie it up at 68-68 and send it into overtime. The Panthers led twice in the extra period and took that three-point lead mentioned earlier when Bramhill sunk a pair of free throws. However, then came the Wildcats' 9-0 spurt to seal it.
