ORLANDO, Fla. - It was another tough challenge on day two for the Davenport men's tennis team. They were up against No. 18 Florida Southern and the Mocs flexed their muscle in a 6-1 win. DU dropped their second straight match and are now 7-3 overall. Florida Southern improved to 4-1.
The Mocs won all three doubles matches but the first two could have gone either way.
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen and
Juan Jose Pino Contoleon went the distance in a 7-6 loss to Brian Pham and Andres Cabezas at one doubles.
Remy Johansen and
Jonathan Bulmer at two doubles hung tough but eventually lost 7-5 to Valentin Hertweck and Pablo Salamanca.
Johansen at one singles lost 7-6 in the first set and then couldn't hang in the second set falling 6-1 to Hertweck. At two singles, van Antwerpen won 7-6 in the first set and then after a 2-2 in the second set his opponent Cabezas had to withdraw.
The Panthers fell at three through six singles all in straight sets.
