Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Panthers explode for 17 first half goals in a win over Lewis University

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Usually when a team scores 17 goals in a game they have a good chance of winning, but what about scoring 17 goals in the first half alone? Davenport did just that today against Lewis, scoring 17 goals in the first half and holding a monster 17-3 lead at halftime. The Panthers cooled off in the second, scoring seven goals and earning a 24-7 win against the Flyers. The 24 goals are tied for the most in a game by Davenport since they started competing in NCAA Division II back in 2017.

How It Happened
Davenport wasted absolutely no time in this game, scoring five goals in the blink of an eye. Brenna Knoll scored the first goal, then Aaliyah Miller, Anna Glynn twice and Reilly Noble. Less than five minutes into the game the Panthers held a 5-0 advantage. Lewis managed to squeeze in a goal to cut the DU lead down to 5-1 and then the Davenport offense exploded for nine unanswered goals. From 20:03 to 9:19 Davenport scored nine goals and only allowed a single shot by Lewis during that stretch. The period ended with a couple of goals by Lewis and three more by Davenport. The halftime score looked like a final game score, with the Panthers leading 17-3.

The Flyers didn't have much of a chance in the second period, being down 14 goals is a deficit that is difficult to overcome. Davenport continued to apply their dominance in the second half, outscoring Lewis 7-4 and increasing their lead even more. The final score sat at 24-7, the largest margin of victory for Davenport since they defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 24-6 back in 2018.

Nine different players scored a point in the game. Noble led the charge offensively, she recorded three goals and six assists, leading the team in points with nine. Ryann Deuel added five goals and 10 draw controls, a stat that Davenport dominated 23-10.
