CALEDONIA, Mich. - The difference for Davenport women's soccer on Sunday came in the 25th minute when Michigan Tech scored the match's lone goal thanks to a header off of a corner-kick attempt. The Panthers managed just six shots, three of which were on goal, in the 1-0 defeat at The Farm.
Michigan Tech (9-4, 6-3 GLIAC) has now won three meetings in a row in the all-time series with Davenport to knot it up at three victories apiece. Next up for Davenport (2-10-1, 2-6-1 GLIAC) is a road contest at Saginaw Valley State on Friday with the opening kickoff set for 1 p.m.
The Huskies' goal was scored by Grace Shaw, her team-leading eighth of the season, on a pinpoint pass from the corner kick and foot of Brooke Schauer (second assist of the season).
For the Panthers, their six shot attempts came from three players including
Filippa Struxsjoe (3 shots, 1 SOG),
Haley Diekevers (2 shots, 1 SOG) and
Natalia Casiello (1 SOG). In goal,
Gabriana Bennecke made six saves on 14 shots saved. This fall, Bennecke has given up one goal or less in five of her eight matches, seven of which were as the starter.
