EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The women's basketball team went on the road for the first time this season and dropped an 86-59 decision against Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles came out in a full-court press from the start of the game and was able to force turnovers and convert them into points. USI led 28-10 after the first quarter and scored 18 of those points off 10 turnovers by the Panthers. The Panthers were not able to overcome that rough first quarter but did hold their own being outscored by nine points over the final three quarters. In the second half, USI outscored DU by just a 38-36 margin.
Davenport through their first two games shot over 41 percent from behind the arc but tonight managed to make 4-of-21. The free throw line was once again a bright spot going 11-of-14 for the game. Southern Indiana shot 42.5 percent overall and were 15-of-21 from the charity stripe.
Ajai Simmons led the team in scoring for the second time this season with 12 points and went 5-of-8 from the floor.
Loni Sales was back on the court after missing the first two games and finished with 11 points and four rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.
Kenzie Wilkinson scored nine points in just over 16 minutes. The team is back on the road on Friday, Nov. 19 as they travel to Findlay for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
