GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The fifth-seeded Davenport University women's volleyball team has a date with top-seeded and 20th-ranked Michigan Tech in the semifinals of the GLIAC Tournament on Saturday in Houghton. The Panthers and Huskies last met over two months ago, also in Houghton, with the home team winning in three sets (8-25, 20-25, 24-26). Saturday's first serve is the second of the two semifinal matches and will start up at 2:30 p.m. inside MTU's SDC Gym.
Davenport (16-11) is coming off a four-set victory over Grand Valley State in Allendale on Wednesday night (17-25, -25, -23, -29). In that match, for the first time in program history, the Panthers dropped the first set before winning the next three by two points each. On the other side, Michigan Tech (23-5) swept eighth-seeded Northwood on Wednesday, has won six matches in a row and 18 of its last 19.
