CALEDONIA, Mich. - Senior midfielder,
Angelina McSauby, scored the first goal of her career on her Senior Day, but the Davenport University women's soccer team came up short against Ferris State, 3-1, on a cold fall day at The Farm. Next up on the schedule, the Panthers will play their final game of the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Parkside for a 1 p.m. ET start in Kenosha, Wis.
McSauby's first career score came on a penalty kick in the eighth minute thanks to a Ferris State handball in the box and tied the score at 1-1. However, the Bulldogs proceeded to tack on two more goals including another in the first half and one more in the second. Overall, Ferris State out-shot Davenport, 30-4, including 12-1 in shots on goal.
McSauby recorded another shot while
Kylee Winn added an attempt and so did
Filippa Struxsjoe. In goal,
Gabriana Bennecke tied her career high in saves with nine (Oct. 22 at Saginaw) and did so on 30 shots faced, two less than her personal high (Oct. 10 at Northwood).
