GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team began their season with a 4-3 win over Aquinas at MVP SportsPlex. The matchup saw four newcomers in the lineup for the Panthers and they narrowly got past the Saints.
Willemien Coetzee and
Sophie Jackson picked up a 6-3 win at one doubles. The single team point was clinched at two doubles as
Danica Malan and
Isabella Carofano won 7-6.
Coetzee picked up another win but this time at one singles with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Joska Volder. Jackson at four singles got her first singles win in three sets. She battled back after losing 7-5 in the first set and finished 6-4 and 11-9 in the super tiebreaker.
Kailyn Skogmo at five singles won 7-5, 6-0 over Vanessa Heylmun as the teams split three singles matches.
