FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After a letdown on home ice on Friday, the D1 Hockey team traveled down to Fort Wayne looking to avenge their Senior Day loss against Indiana Tech.
It was not meant to be, as Indiana Tech, once again, took the play to the Panthers, as they were to complete the weekend sweep with a win on their Senior Night.
QUICK STATS
Final Score: Davenport 3 – Indiana Tech 6
Shots: DU 32 | ITU 47
Power Play: DU (0/4) | ITU (1/6)
Records: #15 DU (3-6) | #7 ITU (13-5-0-1)
EVEN KEEL
DU and Indiana Tech went shot-for-shot in the first period, as the teams combined for 27 shots, 13 of which came from the Panthers. The Warriors were the ones who struck first as Filip Schultz scored a few minutes into the contest. However, just over a minute later,
Jason Cohan scored his fifth of the season to tie the game. Later on in the period, Adam Vanelli gave Indiana Tech their second lead of the game, which they extended early the second period with a tally from Zach Bennett.
Davenport answered back a little over six minutes into the frame with
Jake Pobur scoring his first of the season to bring DU back within one.
SWEEPING VICTORY
Unfortunately, that was as close as DU got.
Matej Krasny scored his second of the weekend not too long after Pobur's goal to put Indiana Tech back up by two. Alex Arnold scored late in the third period, with Krasny followed that with his second of the game with under 90 seconds left in regulation.
Logan Davis would score his first goal as a Panther in the final minute, but it was all for naught, as DU's regular season would end with a 6-3 loss.
WHO'S NEXT?
With the regular season complete, the Panthers now prepare for the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) Playoffs. DU has only been crowned Playoff Champions once, that was back in 2013.
The playoffs are scheduled to be hosted by Calvin at Eagles Ice Center from March 25-27. Official times and matchups are to be determined.
