GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's soccer team hosted Saginaw Valley State on Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex, but dropped the GLIAC showdown by a score of 2-0. Next up on the schedule for the Panthers, they'll host Purdue Northwest on Friday with the opening kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Cardinals scored their goals in the 63rd and 87th minutes while tallying 15 shots to the Panthers' eight, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. In goal for DU,
Gabriana Bennecke made her first start since the second match of the season and faced 15 SVSU shot attempts with four saves.
Offensively for Davenport, the eight shots were taken by
Haley Diekevers (2 shots, 1 SOG),
Filippa Struxsjoe (2 shots),
Izabelle Olsson (1 SOG),
Kathryn Hoeger (1 SOG),
Ajaysia Hacker (1 shot), and
Hannah Henney (1 shot). As a team, the Panthers tied their season high in shots, were one short of the fall best in shots on target and notched three corner kick attempts to Saginaw's seven.
