ALLENDALE, Mich. - The women's basketball team could only score 12 second-half points on Monday and 16th-ranked Grand Valley State pulled away over the final 20 minutes for the 73-38 win over the Panthers (1-13, 0-6 GLIAC). The Lakers won all four quarters but the Panthers played them close in the first quarter trailing 17-14. GVSU then had a nine-point advantage in the second quarter to lead 38-26 at the break. DU would score eight points in the third quarter and just four in the fourth quarter. Grand Valley State (12-1, 5-1 GLIAC) did not shoot overall well at 36.4 percent but they did put the clamps on Davenport who shot 24.5 percent for the game and made just 2-of-23 from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
Freshman
Lillee Gustafson tied a season high with 15 rebounds and scored six points.
Toni Grace came off the bench for the first time in her last 33 games and led the team with 12 points going 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Ryan Harvey got her second start of the season and fifth of her career and scored a career-high 11 points in 25 minutes.
The next scheduled game is Saturday against Ferris State at home for the Panthers after Thursday's game against Lake Superior State was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
