GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's ACHA Division I program met up with Calvin University at Eagles Ice Center on Friday, October 14 and the Knights came away with a 4-1 win. The Panthers had beaten the Knights in five straight matchups prior to this result.
Calvin scored the first four goals of this one before the Panthers broke up the shutout midway through the third period. Michael Iatridis, Steven Ickes, Josh Ernst, and Krzysztof Petryla all scored one goal for the Knights coming at even strength.
Kristers Klavins scored his fourth goal of the season at 10:03 of the third period on the power play with assists from
Robert McLaughlin and
Justin Turner.
Calvin outshot Davenport, 40-24, including a strong start of 13-3 in the first 20 minutes. Davenport finished 1-for-5 on the man advantage and the penalty kill unit went 4-for-4 against the Knights.
Nathan Gauthier stopped 36 shots in net for the Panthers. Carlos Siso stopped 23 shots in net for the Knights.
