GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The women's tennis team played indoors on Friday at Premier Tennis against NCAA Division I Bucknell. It was a very competitive match against the Bison with the Panthers falling 4-3 for their first loss of the season (2-1).
The Panthers took the doubles point by winning two of three matches.
Amy Bloch and
Skye Vandeleur defeated Tyne Miller and Abby Platt at two doubles (7-5).
Louise Hosking and
Isabella Carofano at three doubles won 6-4 against Caroline Marcus and Kate Novak.
The real battles came in singles play as the Bison won four of the six matchups to earn the victory. DU however took three of those to three sets. Bloch at one singles won the first set 6-3 against Anna Lajos but her opponent came back to win 7-6, 6-1. Vandeleur dropped her first set 6-4 at two singles against Miller but claimed a 6-3 win in the second set. Miller needed a tiebreaker to win 7-6 in the final set.
Hermon Mikael captured a win at four singles in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) against Mirra Manolov.
Isabella Carofano at five singles also won 7-6, 6-4 versus Madi Sebulsky.
