Women's Soccer Bounces Back at Purdue Northwest, 3-0

HAMMOND, Ind. - The Davenport University women's soccer team snapped a five-match losing streak on Friday at Purdue Northwest and did so in a big way. The Panthers found the back of the net three times, including once in the first half and twice after the break, to improve to 10-1 in the all-time series against the Pride. Next up, DU will be at Parkside on Sunday for a 1 p.m. eastern opening kickoff against the Rangers.

Davenport (4-8-4, 3-6-3 GLIAC) saw contributions from Ellie Fisher in the 35th minute (first of the season), Citlali Luna in the 59th (third) and Haley Diekevers in the 72nd (third, second in as many matches). Gabby Scholten assisted Fisher with her first dime of the fall before Aida Holihan helped Diekevers make it 3-0 with her team-leading second assist of 2022. Fisher became the 10th different Panther to score this season while Luna and Diekevers are tied for the team lead at three apiece.

In goal, Gabriana Bennecke made three saves on just six shots faced. Team wise, Davenport racked up nine shots to Purdue Northwest's six, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, and the Panthers tallied four corner kicks to the Pride's three. Izabelle Olsson (pictured) led the DU attack in shots with three, two on target, along with Diekevers (2 shots, 1 shot on goal), Scholten (1 shot on goal), Luna (1 shot on goal), Fisher (1 shot on goal), and Madison Mohr (1 shot).
