D2CCA Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Award season continued on Thursday for
Hayley Kreiger and
Kenzy Corstange of the Davenport University women's volleyball team as both were honored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Kreiger was named Midwest Region Player of the Year and featured on the First Team while Corstange garnered a nod for the Second Team.
Kreiger's already crowded trophy case got a little busier on Thursday as she's now been named All-Region by three different organizations including the D2CCA (first First Team in program history), the American Volleyball Coaches Association (2021, soon to be 2022) and the College Sports Communicators (2021, soon to be 2022). With her 1,000th career dig in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals against Grand Valley State last Wednesday, Kreiger became just the second player in program history (Krissy Dill) with 1,000 or more kills and 1,000 or more digs. The South Haven native still leads all of Division II in kills and ranks fourth across all Divisions with 575. For just Division II, she's also first in total attacks (1,554), first in attacks per set (13.3), second in kills per set (4.9) and third in points per set (5.5).
After being named Second Team All-GLIAC a season ago, Corstange has come even further this year with a resume that now includes GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-GLIAC and D2CCA Second Team All-Midwest Region. The Richland native is 10th in the country for total digs with 594 and 34th in digs per set with 5.08. She became the ninth member of Davenport's 1,000 digs club on Oct. 1 at Saginaw Valley State and has since risen to eighth on that list with 1,262, just 36 away from Kayla Vandermolen in seventh.
