MIDLAND, Mich. - The ACHA Division III men's hockey team showed a fighting spirit on Friday evening as they went into hostile territory and pulled out a 5-3 win over Saginaw Valley State. To say this game was physical would be an understatement. There were minor penalties throughout the game and it boiled over late when a couple of fighting majors were handed out and also a few minors for leaving the bench area to get involved. Davenport had two players get a disqualification for leaving the bench and another one for fighting. The Cardinals were handed out one of each of those penalties mentioned.
Well, let's get back to the hockey game where the Panthers trailed 2-0 after the first period and stormed back for the victory.
Aiden Dion from
Carter Osborn and
Spencer Anderson got Davenport within one goal. Osborn later in the period tied the game up unassisted.
SVSU regained a 3-2 lead early in the third period but the Panthers scored the final three goals of the game.
Hunter Tolsdorf tied the game at 5:42 of the period from
John Lizyness. Dion scored the game-winning goal at 13:23 from
Jared Kifer and
Elijah Klco. Anderson finished it off with 40 seconds to play from Osborn on an empty-netter.
