GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win on Wednesday afternoon against Spring Arbor of the NAIA. The team improved to 2-5 overall while the Cougars fall to 8-6.
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova teamed up at one doubles for a 6-2 win.
Isabella Carofano and
Kumiko Yamaguchi formed a duo at two doubles with a 7-5 win.
Sophie Jackson and
Louise Hosking also got a victory at three doubles by a score of 6-3.
The team then took five of six singles matches for the total of six points. Coetzee had a 6-3, 6-2 win at one singles over Lucy Burau. Carofano had a straight sets win at two singles over Rebekah Pake (6-3, 6-4). Yamaguchi at four singles beat Olivia Creech 6-3, 7-5. Shumilova had a rather easy time at five singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Paige Trela. Jackson also got a six singles win over Emma Ruga by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
