Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Panthers pick up 7-0 win over Hillsdale

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's tennis team had a bright and early first serve on Saturday against visiting Hillsdale at MVP SportsPlex. The Panthers picked up a 7-0 win over the Chargers in non-conference action. DU improved to 6-0 this season while Hillsdale is now 2-3. The Panthers are off to their best start since joining NCAA Division II and won nine times all of last season finishing 9-10 overall.

Hillsdale started the match down before it even began really with no one in the three doubles or six singles spots. It didn't really matter in doubles because DU won two matches to earn the point. Jonathan Bulmer and Juan-Louis van Antwerpen were victorious at one doubles by a score of 7-5 over Tyler Conrad and Sean Barstow. Bulmer now has 70 career doubles wins and van Antwerpen reached 61 career doubles wins. Joel Mast and Quintan van Wijk also won 6-3 at two doubles over Daniel Gilbert and Bogdan Janicijevic.

The Chargers could not even get four games in a single set during the singles competition. Bulmer at three singles won 6-0, 6-3 over Gilbert. He now stands at 58 career singles wins, just one shy of tying the all-time school record by Tyler Chambers. van Antwerpen and van Wijk also didn't need to break too much of a sweat. Juan-Louis won at one singles 6-1, 6-3 over Barstow and Quintan won 6-2, 6-3 at two singles over Conrad. Mast cruised past Janicijevic at four singles by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Bennet Dozeman got his first dual match singles win at the five spot with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sam Clyde.
