GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's tennis team had their two-match win streak come to an end on Sunday as visiting Walsh claimed a 6-1 win over the Panthers at GR Racquet Club.
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova captured the win at one doubles in a tiebreaker winning 7-6 (8-6) against Risako Umekuni and Alexa Gamborino. The other two doubles went to the Cavaliers as they dropped just three games in those two matches.
Walsh got a boost at one singles as Umekuni was able to defeat Coetzee in three sets by scores of 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. Shantala Uzcategui at two singles was able to defeat
Isabella Carofano 6-3, 6-1. Nicole Beidacki at four singles beat
Kumiko Yamaguchi of DU 6-2, 6-3. Shumilova picked up the team's point at five singles with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Carla Padberg.
