Grace goes over 1,300 career points in road loss at Ferris State

The senior guard currently sits 8th all-time at DU in scoring

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Senior guard Toni Grace went over the 1,300-point mark in her career on Thursday night at Ferris State in her 96th game as a Panther. She now has 1,314 career points which is 8th all-time at Davenport. Her next milestone would be 7th place as she needs 26 more points to tie Kristi Boehm (2007-11) but she needed 137 games to reach that figure.

The Panthers however would not come out on the winning end as the Bulldogs took both games this season with a 72-55 victory improving to 15-6 overall and 9-4 in the GLIAC. Davenport falls to 2-19 overall and 1-12 in the conference. DU finished the game shooting 19-for-60 which is 31.7 percent. FSU connected on 25-for-57 which is 43.9 percent. The Panthers just could not find their touch at the free throw line in particular. They entered the game shooting 69.3 percent as a team but managed 47.8 percent going 11-for-23.

Ferris State led 9-7 early in the contest at the 5:37 mark of the first quarter and Davenport would not take the lead again. DU had a one-point lead prior to that point twice very early in the game. The Bulldogs led 22-14 at the end of the first quarter but the Panthers kept it close down 31-24 with 4:09 left until halftime after a triple by Kenzie Wilkinson. Grace scored the first basket of the third quarter to make it 36-27 but that was the last time the deficit was under double digits. Ferris State led by as many as 20 points in the quarter at 52-32. The Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 15-14 in the fourth quarter to end the game with a positive note.

Grace finished with a team-high 16 points and scored in double figures for the eighth straight game and 15th time this season. She also now has 71 games out of 96 in her career in double figures. Grace played 30 minutes and also had two steals and one assist. She did have a streak of 62 straight games with a rebound end with no rebounds. Emily Lange scored a season-high 10 points as the other Panther in double figures. She went 4-for-7 from the floor and also had four rebounds in 13 minutes. Lange hit double figures for the 12th time in her career and first time this season.
