GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision against Tiffin on Sunday at the Grand Rapids Racquet Club. The Panthers have lost four straight after a win in their fall opener over Aquinas. Tiffin has owned the all-time series with a 6-0 advantage.
The doubles portion featured three wins by the Dragons. Emily Barrett and Carina Avram defeated
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova at one doubles by a 6-3 margin. In fact, all three matches ended in a 6-3 outcome.
Isabella Carofano and
Kumiko Yamaguchi at two doubles fell to Anaelle Lepinay and Allessandra Maganuco.
Sophie Jackson and Louise Hocking at three doubles lost to Jessica Peace and Shea Foster of Tiffin.
In singles, it was Coetzee picking up the win at the one spot with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Barrett. Coetzee is now 4-5 in singles this season with a 2-2 record in duals. Shumilova at five singles was the last match on the courts. She battled to the bitter end in three sets falling 6-7, 6-3, 6-10 against Sharanya Shetty.
