FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The women's tennis team took on Indiana Tech on Friday and the Warriors improved to 10-0 with a 5-2 win over the Panthers.
The Warriors set the tone with three doubles wins to win one point. The one doubles match was a barnburner that went into a tiebreaker.
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova fell to Criss Echavarria and Abigail Simms 7-6 (8-6).
Coetzee was able to return the favor at one singles against Echavarria. She won that match by scores of 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in a tight showdown. Shumilova also was able to pick up a win at four singles against Semmie Moore by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
Kumiko Yamaguchi at five singles had a slugfest with Ana Gomez. Yamaguchi cruised 6-1 in the first set but then Gomez came back 7-5, 11-9 in the super tiebreaker for the win.
