Tars end the Panthers win streak with 6-1 win in men's tennis action

WINTER PARK, Fla. - After an 11-0 start to the season, the Davenport men's tennis team ran into a talented Rollins College squad on Wednesday night on their home courts in a 6-1 loss to the Tars.

The doubles portion hinged on two matches that went into tiebreakers. Juan-Louis van Antwerpen and Jonathan Bulmer at one doubles fell 6-4 against Denis Golubev and Efe Comu. The tandem of Quintan van Wijk and Joel Mast at two doubles fell 7-6 (7-2) against Mikkel Baumann and Charlie Putrino. Daniil Khitrou and Maxim Drinchich at three doubles nearly had a win but fell 7-6 (7-5) against Moritz Stenzer and Phillip McMurray.

Bulmer was able to pull out the team's point at three singles. He won 7-6 (7-4) and 6-2 against Putrino. Golubev, one of the top ranked singles players in Division II, won 6-1, 6-2 at one singles against van Antwerpen. van Wijk at two singles fell 7-5, 6-4 to Comu. Jose Brenes played at six singles for the Panthers and dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to McMurray. The team has the day off tomorrow to regroup and travel back to Orlando for a showdown on Friday against No. 21 Charleston at 10:00 AM.
